Get the Kids Involved | Bowling

I have three kids so I am always interested in ways to keep them active. Especially in this super connected, high tech world we live in. They would love to sit around and play on an iPod, computer or TV all day long.

I thought I would share this summer some different ways that we like to keep busy as a family. One thing we have done together this summer is bowling.

Bowling is an anaerobic workout that works muscles in the legs and the arms. It can help improve balance, improve flexibility and it’s just plain fun so it can improve your mood.

According to this site, you can burn 240 calories in one game of bowling! It also says that three games of bowling are the equivalent of walking a mile. Another source said two miles.

Be sure to check out Kids Bowl Free if you are interested in going bowling – that definitely helps with the cost. (And, no, I’m not being compensated, just want to make sure you know of a good deal.)

Do you love to bowl? Do the kids? Try it out and have fun together! After all, the shoes are super-stylish.

Round 6 | Week 4

Motivation - Never regret

{source}

This week I had arranged with two friends to go walking in the evening. On Thursday, one friend texted me that her parents had arrived so she wasn’t going to make it and I didn’t hear from my other friend so I talked myself out of going. I dread getting ready and going out.

A few minutes before it was our scheduled time, my friend texted and asked if we were still on. I replied that I had talked myself out of it and she said she really wanted to go so I changed my clothes, laced up my sneakers and headed out.

I did not regret it. At all.

I loved it, and I saw the most beautiful sunset:

Sunset

It was my reward, I guess. {Don’t forget to use #100in3 on Instagram!} I loved the chatting, the sweating, and the feeling in my muscles as they worked. So, like above, I dreaded going out, but I did not regret it. :)

How was your week? I hope it was good. Are you going to do anything to challenge yourself this week?

Leave a comment with your miles and go get ‘em this week!

Round 6 | Week 3

#Quotes #Inspiration #WordsofWisdom

Sorry for the delay in getting this week's call for miles up. I'm having trouble with my laptop -- I thought it was fixed; but yesterday it wouldn't turn on at all! So frustrating. Luckily, I'm able to snag a few minutes here and there on my husband's work computer.

How was your week? Week 3 ended yesterday (Sunday) so it's time to report your miles. Leave a comment and come back and check my math.

I've struggled lately with getting myself back into a good routine. It's been different with the kids home all day and one class that I was attending not being available. So today, I'm telling myself that I can.

I can try a new class.
I can get out while it's hot.
I can get exercise in before the kids are up in the morning.
I can take two showers in a day if I need to so I can work out.

What will you tell yourself you CAN do to make your week better?

Computer Issues

I'm dealing with some computer issues today so I will do my best to get this week's call for miles up tonight. It will likely not be until tomorrow though.
Thanks for your patience.

Round 6 | Week 2

Goal To Reach

{source}

I have loved this challenge because it gives me a goal and something to work towards.

How was your week? Today (Sunday) is the last day of week two. Did you set a mini goal for the week? Did you meet it?

I got most of my miles this week on the beach – that might just be the best way to get miles in. :) Now, we’re home from vacation and it’s back to the usual.

Leave me a comment with your miles, and good luck this week!

Round 6 | Week 1

We spent the weekend in Seattle where my daughter ran in the regional track Junior Olympics. It was an exciting weekend for us, but it made me totally forget to do a call for miles. So sorry!

Leave a comment with your miles, and your goal if I don’t have it listed on the sidebar. Good luck this week!

Round 5 | Results

{source}
I added up the miles that we have done the past three months, and including all miles reported, we did 1784 Miles. That is AMAZING!
Here is what I have for everyone that has reported so far (I’ll update as more reports come in):
  • Ali 66/100
  • Amanda 100/100
  • Heather H. 110/100
  • Jamie 102/100
  • Jessie 54/100
  • Julie A. 229/225
  • Julie C. 72/100
  • Kara 120/115
  • Michelle 209/200
  • Molly 100/100
  • Ruth 93/100
  • Sandra 125/150
  • Stacy 303/300
  • Timber 101/100
I am SO impressed! You guys are SO inspiring.
I “helped” Timber reach her goal, but really she gave birth mid-way through the challenge and still reported her miles. I figure giving birth counts for a LOT!
