Call for Miles | Week 4

A day late (probably two since it will be the middle of the night before this goes up for most of you). Sorry, ladies!

Week 4 ended on Monday. How was your week?

After my week of ZERO, I improved. Happy to report that! Still room for improvement, but making a step in the right direction.

Leave a comment with your miles last week. Good luck this week!

Excuses

Last week, I was full of excuses for why I couldn’t exercise.

Bryan was out of town. I had a meeting. I was cranky. I had to be at the school to do volunteer time. I had a big event as PALS (parent group) president. I have three kids and one wasn’t feeling well. I was tired – after all, I don’t sleep well when Bryan is gone.

Because of this, I got 0 miles. ZERO. This is my challenge! How can I do that to myself?

Recently, my sister emailed me some of the pictures that I have used on the calls for miles. As I was going through my email last night, I came across this one:

photo(1)

I have seen it before. I have smiled at this boy’s happiness, his smile and his courage.

But, last night. Last night, it sunk in. My excuses are LAME!

After all, if I had exercised perhaps I would have slept better. If I had exercised, I probably would have had more energy to get the things done that needed to get done. If I had exercised I may have been more patient with my children because I would have had an outlet.

Exercise has a way of changing my whole perspective.

Do you know what I mean?

So this week, I challenge you to drop your excuses. Forget them. Do something GOOD for yourself.

And, I read this gem this afternoon and thought that maybe it would inspire you too.

Will you do it? Will you drop your excuse? Will you do something good for you?

Call for Miles | Week 2

it's workin

source

Today (Monday) is the last day of week 2. How did it go for you? I got to my boot camp class three times, but my-oh-my, I am having a hard time motivating myself to do anything the other four days of the week. It’s cold, gray, and rainy here which makes me want to snuggle up on the couch and watch reruns of Roseanne.

Let me know in the comments how your week was and how many miles you have. It’s not too late for anyone to join in, so if you have anyone you think might be interested, send them this way!

I saw this on Facebook this week and thought I would share because it made me laugh:

hippos

And, I’m pretty sure it’s true. I feel like a rock star when I am doing plank, but I’m sure I look more like the bottom picture. ;)

Call For Miles | Week 1

securedownload Today (Monday) is the last day of the first week of Round 4. How did your first week go?

Winter is a hard time to exercise. On Saturday, I met with a friend to go for a walk, and the wind was blowing 20+ miles an hour (with gusts much higher) and it was cold so we didn’t get very far before turning back.

Do you have any tips for working out when it is cold and or wet out?

Leave a comment letting me know your miles for this week and good luck in week two!

*I have had some people tell me that they have had a hard time leaving a comment. If you have any trouble, please feel free to email me instead. My email is over there ----->

2013 Fitness Goals

I can hardly believe that 2013 is already upon us. I swear that the school year just started.

I am definitely a lists girl and I spend a lot of time making list of things that I want to do and improve on so I am all over resolutions come January. It helps that my birthday is in June so I can reevaluate then and see how I am coming.

A lot of people poke fun at New Year's Resolutions and you hear a lot of jokes about people failing on January 2 and giving up. I don't make resolutions like this. I make a goal for myself and I work on it. Sometimes it is easier than other times, but I don't give up on it just because I had a bad day. I keep trying

With the new year, and a new challenge starting, I am thinking about what I want to do this year fitness wise.

I've come up with a few and thought that I would share. I would love to hear what your goals for the 2013 year are as well.

1) Beat my time in the 6.7 mile walk my town does each May. I have done this walk every year since we moved to Oregon. It's a beautiful course and I love it. It challenges me though. 6.7 miles is far (I don't know how people walk [much less run] 13.1 or 26.2 miles) and I have to be preparing to be ready for it. My time in 2012 was 1 hour 40 minutes. I think I can beat that.

2) I want to run a 5k. And I want to run the whole thing. To do this I need to find one that is on a Saturday and isn't too far away. And I need to start running.

3) This year will be my fifth year doing the Portland to Coast relay. Last year, I was in probably the best shape of all four years. I had two legs to do and the first, I felt like I did a good job. The second one was long and hard and I want to do it again, but do it better. I want to not feel like dying at the end of it.

One reason I love this challenge is that it gets me to go a little farther and it keeps me moving because I know I have to report. I am excited to head towards my goals and be with you as you head to yours.

So, share with us. What are you 2013 Fitness Goals?

Round 4!

Happy New Year!

I am so excited to have a few new faces here for round 4. Thank you for joining us!
Today begins our challenge -- so for the next three months keep track of your exercise and report in on Mondays when I post a call for miles. Our weeks will run Tuesday through Monday this time around.

Feel free to invite friends to join in - it's never too late to start a challenge.

One thing about this challenge - I really want you to make it yours. Make it work for you. Set a goal that is reachable. It doesn't have to be 100. It can be more. It can be less. Just let me know if it is something other than 100.

Push yourself for that extra mile - remember no half miles! Let me know if you ever have any questions.

Good luck!
